Hordes of screaming fans lined 23rd St. in Chelsea this past Tuesday for the Cinema Society screening of the highly anticipated Hunger Games. When asked what it was like organizing such a large scale event, founder Andrew Saffir lauded, “I took a deep breath and braced myself for potential pandemonium, but all worked out in the end!”

The blockbuster premiere was chock-full of bold face names. The film’s stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci and Isabelle Fuhrman kept their cool as they crossed the packed red carpet, taking time to hand out autographs and pose for fans and paparazzi alike. Francisco Costa, creative director of co-sponsor Calvin Klein Collection, dressed some of the film’s stars in gorgeous pieces from the most recent collections. Lawrence left us speechless in an emerald green number, featuring a dare-to-bare plunging neckline that defied the laws of gravity.

It seemed like all of New York had made it out for this highly buzzed about event. Zoe Kravtiz (with boyfriend Penn Badgley) came out to support her former X-Men co-star Lawrence, and represented her father, Lenny Kravitz, who also stars. A shockingly mature looking Abigail Breslin walked the carpet in a chic, body-con midi-dress, while the likes of Hilary Rhoda, Kelly Bensimon, Seth Meyers, Derek Blasberg, Andrew Bevan and Cheyenne Jackson made their ways into the packed theater.

After the screening, guests headed to the Top of the Standard for a blockbuster worthy bash. DJ Mia Moretti spun as guests like Courtney Love, accompanied by the adorable (and young) Brandt boys, Hanneli Mustaparta, Rachel RoyErin Heatherton, Spike Lee and Paul Haggis gathered in celebration. The cast indulged in some much-needed Grey Goose cocktails as they danced the night away. After all, this is but one stop on what is sure to be a whirlwind of press events for these newly minted mega-stars.
