Last night was all about the arts at Cipriani 42nd Street. Guests gathered at the famed New York venue in celebration of the 55th Annual 2015 National Arts Awards hosted by leading nonprofit organization, Americans for the Arts.

The black-tie event began with a cocktail reception with artwork by visual artist Kerry James Marshall followed by a three-course dinner and presentation of awards, tributes to honorees, and a musical performance by National YoungArts Foundation Alumni.

Among those honored were Sophia Loren, Lady Gaga, Herbie Hancock, Alice Walton, Joan and Irwin Jacobs, and Maria Bell, who have all shown outstanding leadership in the visual and performing arts, arts education, and philanthropy. In addition, Carolyn Clark Powers was welcomed as the National Arts Awards Chair and as the namesake of its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Overall, the event was a success and raised $750,000 to help support the organization to build upon their core programs and activities—now that’s a true work of art.
