It was a night for the dogs at Ralph Lauren on Tuesday as some of New York’s top interior designers and their canine companions came together for the launch of At Home With Dogs and Their Designers: Sharing a Stylish Life, a gripping new book from author Susanna Salk and Stacey Bewkes. The book explores the relationship between interior designers and their dogs—a relationship that initially surprised Salk. “As part of my video series, and we shoot top designers in their homes all the time,” she told AVENUE. “I’m always visiting them and writing about them, and it occurred to me that almost all of the designers were dog owners, and that dogs were integral and beloved parts of their home life. You’d think that they wouldn’t be able to love both dogs and design, but they were all completely relaxed about the dogs living and sleeping with them. I asked them if they’d be interested in a book about designers and their dogs, and they all said yes within 5 seconds of me asking. It’s very exciting for them to share their love for their dogs with the world”

The evening was also an introduction for Ralph Lauren’s new line of dog accessories, leather collars and leashes inspired by the company’s iconic belts. All of the dogs in attendance wore Ralph Lauren collars and leashes.

Attendees included Robert Couturier, Charlotte Moss, Alex Papachristidis, Steven Gambrel, Katie Ridder, Martha Stewart, Susan Magrino, Kevin Sharkey, Cynthia Frank, Björn Wallander and Carolyne Roehm.
