“I can’t believe we invested in the company and we’re paying retail,” Jay McInerney said fondly as he forked over his American Express Black Card at Doubles on Wednesday night to pay for a diamond pin picked out by his wife Anne Hearst McInerney.

The couple not only hosted a cocktails and canapes evening for Amanda Hearst, partner Hassan Pierre, and their online and pop-up ethical fashion company Maison-De-Mode.com. The McInerneys also demonstrated their blossoming social magnetism. They typically draw a crowd which, Mark Gilbertson has noted approvingly, “has no filler,” i.e. bodies whose names are something less than bold-face-ready. And they highlighted Hearst’s daughter’s company’s commitment to worthy ideals like recycling, fair trade, cruelty-free and artisanal products and supporting made-in-the-USA businesses committed to minimizing their carbon footprint and supporting American jobs.

Among those shopping, sipping, nibbling and chattering were Tara and Allison Rockefeller, Dana Hammond Stubgen, Jennifer Creel, Luigi Tadini, Sharon Bush, Nathan and Katharina Otto Bernstein, Valesca Guerrand Hermes, Ann Dexter Jones, Moriah Lutz-Tveite, James and Susan Magrino Dunning, Barbara Hodes, Karl Wellner and Deborah Norville, Kerry Kennedy, Ann Colley, Milly de Cabrol, Margo Catsimatidis, Liliana Cavendish, Loraine Alterman Boyle, Robert Zimmerman, Jeanne Lawrence, Tracey Emin, Diandra Douglas, Alex Papachristidis, Bettina Zilkha, Andrew Stein, Anki Leeds, Margo Langenberg, Nick Raynes, Peggy Seigal, R. Couri Hay, Meghan Folsom, Stephanie Theofilos, Teresa Melhado, Jacqueline Kent Cooke, Tyler Stafford, Leslie Stevens, Doubles’ Wendy Carduner, Jay and Tracy Snyder and Sandy Leong.
