“The more I see of men the more I like dogs,” said Anne-Louise-Germaine Necker, the Baroness de Staël-Holstein. And the best you can say of some men and women is that they care more for their dogs than for other humans.  But no one cares more for dogs than the staff of NYC’s Animal Medical Center (AMC), one of the country’s premier veterinary facilities.  Though it treats all animals, canines hold a special place there, as they do with many in the social set, and so AMC calls its annual fundraiser the Top Dog Gala. The latest, held on Tuesday, December 13th at Cipriani-42nd Street, honored Donna Acquavella and celebrated two extraordinary canines, U.S. Secret Service K-9 Hurricane and U.S. Customs and Border Protection K-9 Jasper. The event, co-chaired by Robert Couturier, Nancy Kissinger, Elaine Langone, Elizabeth Monaco McCarthy and Annette de la Renta, raised nearly $1.6 million for AMC. Among the nearly 600 guests: Steven Rales, Jamie Niven, Katharine and William Rayner, Karen and Richard Lefrak, Elaine and Kenneth Langone, Eliza Reed Bolen and Alex Bolen, Adam Lippes, Arianna and Dixon Boardman, Dr. Henry Kissinger, Kristy Hinze and Jim Clark, Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer and Emilia Krimendahl.
