a night for the new museum

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Last night, 45 flights up at 7 World Trade Center, the New Museum had a packed house at their fundraising gala and after party sponsored by Interview magazine.  The event raised more than $1 million and guest list was a reminder that this is the only major museum dedicated to young artists–and this crowd was ready to party.

Underneath the crystal Swarovski chandeliers were notables from the art world such as London-based Gilbert Proesch and George Passmore (the evening’s honorees), Gavin Brown, Bettina Prentice, Jeff Koons and Lorinda Ash, along with the uber fashionable fans of art. Specifically, we spotted major looks from some of the usual suspects: Dree Hemingway, Rose McGowan, Genevieve Jones, Lucy Chadwick, Jen Brill, Lisa Perry and Arden Wohl.

Harley Viera Newton and bestie Cassie Coane DJ’ed and other guests included Rose Byrne, Stefano Tonchi Malcolm Carfrae, John Waters, Charlotte Ronson, Anne Grauso, Duffy, Douglas Friedman and Ross Bleckner.
