A not-so standard night at the top of the standard

Friday, April 29, 2011

Last night, while many were asleep awaiting the royal wedding, AVENUEinsider was in the same room as Kate Middleton…

(Okay, so it was only Alice St. Clair from William & Kate: A Royal Love Story. But still).

It was The Cinema Society & Acura’s screening of Thor that put us there. The theater was packed with other power players and “royals” (of sorts) including Valentino and his partner of nearly 50 years, Giancarlo Giammetti (how’s that for romance!).

Star of the film Chris Hemsworth graced the red carpet while guests such as Howard and Beth Stern,  Karolina Kurkova, Olivier Theyskens, Jeisa Chiminazzo, Alex Lundqvist and Pablo Schreiber found their seats–3D glasses in hand.

Emma Roberts slipped in quite discretely avoiding the photogs and press–joined by Glee’s Chord Overstreet. Overstreet and Roberts got cozy in the theater while Overstreet (sporting his 3D shades long before the movie started) snapped photos of Roberts on his phone.

At the after party on the 18th floor of The Standard, fellow gleeksters (Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Ashley Fink, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Harry Shum Jr, Heather Morris) rarely strayed from their group but Roberts and Gabourey Sidibe joined in on their fun.

Also amongst the crowd: Susan Sarandon, Stephen Baldwin, Russell Simmons, Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows, Sebastian Stan, Scott Adsit, Tika Sumpter, Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diaries, Noah Bean from Damages, and Joan Smalls (who literally screeched when she saw Prabal Gurung before jumping into his arms–we sensed a long-awaited model/designer reunion).

The party went on well past our bedtime but we were in good company and couldn’t miss out on any of the fun. For more justification (mainly to ourselves) that it was worth the sleepy eyes and bed-head look we are sporting today: Courtney Love, Tyson Ballou, Johannes Huebl, Anson Mount, New York Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist and Wojtek Wolski, Billy Magnussen, Zoe Lister-Jones, Dan Abrams, David Zinczenko, Alex Lundqvist, Daniel Benedict, Amar’e Stoudemire, Nanette Lepore, Sam Shaffer, Bettina Zilkha and Cinema Society Founder and host-with-the-most, Andrew Saffir.
