“A Place at the Table” Screening and Dinner

Chefs and hunger don’t often stir into the same pot, however stars and supporters alike came together to fight a problem afflicting 50 million people nationwide, including 1 in 4 children.

Wednesday night the focus was on Tom Colicchio’s latest project, “A Place at the Table.” A screening of which took place at MoMa – where many audience members were moved to tears.

The film aims to engage and enrage  its viewers while raising awareness about hunger-issues in America, as reviewed in Variety. Colicchio executive produced the film, co-directed by his wife Lori Silverbush. The film was well anticipated for the Top Chef, who has been a fervent fighter against hunger for the past 25-years ago.

After the screening, guests attended a dinner at Colicchio’s ever-elegant Riverpark, located on the East River. Guests chattered eagerly about the film and what they can do to help over a buffet of fried chicken and biscuits, a raw bar and big cheese table. Bank of American and Food & Wine also played host to the event, along with The Cinema Society who screened the film.

Guests featured those who helped in the making of the documentary, like actor Jeff Bridges, producer/co-director Kristi Jacobson and producers Julie Goldman & Ryan Harrington. Also there was Barbie Izquierdo, whose real life struggles with hunger are followed in the film

Among other attendees were, Jon Stewart, Matt Dillon, Gina Gershon, Lou Reed, Steve Buscemi & Jo Andres, Josh Charles (The Good Wife), Jill Hennessy, Dionne Warwick, Billy Connolly, Judd Hirsch, Rachel Dratch, Fisher Stevens, Billy Magnussen, Isiah Whitlock (The Wire), Clive Standen (Vikings), Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Dror Moreh (The Gatekeepers director), Mario Batali, Lauren Bush Lauren, Marina Rust Connor, Peter Cincotti, Nina Griscom, Lorraine Kirke, Gretta Monahan, Jason Dundas (VH1), Food & Wine’s Dana Cowin (Editor in Chief), Christina Grdovic (VP & Publisher), and Gail Simmons, and Cinema Society founder Andrew Saffir.
