On Thursday night, Cornelia Guest, R. Couri Hay, Anthony Hayden-Guest, Carmen D’Alessio, Denise Chatman, Erik von Brook, George Wayne, Gail Evertz, Gordon von Broock, Mimi Leonard Fleischman, and Patrick McMullan hosted the launch party for Inside Studio 54 by former Studio 54 owner Mark Fleischman at the PH-D Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown.

Friends including Carolina Herrera‘s husband Reinaldo Herrera, Nicole Miller, Lee and CeCe Black, Roger and Bara De Cabrol, Donovan Leitch, Dustin Pittman, Byron Hero, the Schott family, Governor Andrew Cuomo’s daughter Mariah Kennedy Cuomo, Cole Rumbough, Gwynne Rivers, Montgomery Frazier, Carmen D’Allesio, Ben Mindich, and Randy Jones from the disco era group, The Village People, watched a city sunset, and danced to throwback tunes from the disco era including the particularly appropriate Gloria Gaynor hit, “I Will Survive.”

No cocaine, Quaaludes, poppers, or public exhibitionism was in evidence, though at least a few of the guests had direct personal experience of the sort of divine decadence, darling, that Fleischman recalls in the memoir he signed for them.

Inside Studio 54 tells the story of the famous club’s second coming and denouement in the early 1980s after Fleischman purchased it from its creators and original owners, Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, when they went to prison for tax evasion. Fleischman ran the club until 1986, before opening Tatou in New York and then LA. He then reversed course and went into rehab (like so many other Studio 54 denizens), and moved on to other businesses. Fleischman and his wife Mimi currently co-own and operate a different kind of club offering a healthier high, Bar Method exercise studios in Los Angeles.
