All Hail Shail

Here is everywhere from Upper East Side parties to Bill Cunningham‘s style snaps in the New York Times Sunday Styles Section. Meet Shail Upadhya, who has called himself an “artist in the medium of clothing.”

Often photographed alone (would you want to compete with this guy’s get-ups?), Shail was born in Kathmandu to a family of politicians. He always wanted to be an artist, but to please his family, he worked as a diplomat at the U.N. But Shail, who met Andy Warhol during Studio 54’s hey-dey, is letting his freak flag fly. He hand paints all his own pop art inspired clothes and is never seen in the same outfit twice. Talk about a true fashionista.
