Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Yesterday evening at the Plaza Hotel amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, honored and dedicated AIDS activist HRH Crown Princess of Norway Mette-Marit and two of the companies that have had a huge influence on the progression of AIDS research: HBO and Calvin Klein collection. The trio received the Award of Inspiration at this year’s 5th annual Inspiration Gala.

The gala was presented by MAC Cosmetics VivaGlam and was hosted by actor Josh Duhamel. Designers Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli accpeted the award on behalf of  Calvin Klein Collection and Michael Lombardo, president of programming, accepted on behalf of HBO. Sarah Jessica Parker, a long time supporter of amfAR, presented Lombardo with the award.

Legendary British rock band New Order performed and entertained guests. This black-tie affair also featured a gala dinner, a live auction of luxury goods and a full-scale menswear runway show held in the historic Palm Court of the Plaza. The proceeds from this benefit will assist in amfAR’s life-saving AIDS research.

The gala was produced by Josh Wood Productions. The event’s Official Technology partner was Microsoft.
