Amy Adores: Azzedine Alaia

Friday, July 8, 2011

Classic Tunisian-born designer Azzedine Alaia presented his first collection in 8 years in Paris yesterday and the reception was nothing but unending applause. Alaia has a knack for mixing materials, and this season’s F/W Couture show was a presentation of crocodile printed leathers, luxurious fur and *ahem* flighty feathers. Combined with the strong, solid-as-a-rock silhouettes that perfectly emphasize a woman’s natural curve, this collection was a brilliant rebirth for the iconic designer, and like a Phoenix from the ashes, Azzedine Alaia is once again at the top of Atelier fashions.
