An All American Eve at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

The Metropolitan Museum of Art may be lauded for it’s ornate architecture and extensive collection of landmark pieces in the world of Art History. Let’s not forget however, the expansive collection of American artists that grace the walls of the newly renovated New American Wing Galleries for Painting, Sculpture and Decorative Arts which reopened this past Thursday with a VIP dinner hosted by none other than Hilary Rodham Clinton (surely an icon of this American era).

Joining Secretary Clinton at the immaculate dinner-which boasted ribs, roasted beets and a delectable leek-and-Gruyere bread pudding- were Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Oscar de la Renta, David Koch and Lulu Wang.

The $100 million renovations mark the end of nearly a decade’s worth of work and features a complete history of American art, chronologically displayed for the enjoyment of the art historian in all of us.
