Anita’s Way brings you the 2014 Chashama Gala

Yesterday evening on West 43rd Street guests attended the most avant-garde, electric event held at Anita’s Way. The evening honored Patricia Lopinski and Chicago Title Insurance Company, both who are leaders in supporting artists and the arts in communities that need it most.

The evening started with cocktails and hor d’oeurves then continued with a dinner and performances. After the performances, SeeMe, DJ Kitty Cash and DJ Jasmine Solano dropped some beats for guests to dance and celebrate in their festive best.

The gala was co-chaired by Elizabeth Kurpis and Katie Fischer Cherry and catered by award-winning restaurant Aureole.

Colored hair wigs, costumes and props graced not only performers but artists and guests in attendance as well. It was a bright-colored evening with iconic garments and memories. Some of the VIPs in attendance were Artistic Director of Chashama Anita Durst, Helena Rose Durst, Roy Secord, Alberte Bernier, Sandra Spannan, The Church of Girl by Flambeaux, Chashama Program Director Janusz Jaworski and Robin Lynch.

Chashama, which means “to have vision” in Farsi, was founded by Anita Durst in 1995 as a theater group to celebrate the creative energy of theater artist and mentor Reza Abdoh after his untimely death. It nurtures artists by transforming unused property into work and presentation space.
