Fair warning. Last chance. No regrets! And just like that, nearly $750,000 was raised last Thursday night at the 22nd annual ARTWALK NY charity auction benefiting Coalition for the Homeless. Presented by Max Mara and co-hosted by Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany, the event brought 700 guests to the Metropolitan Pavilion. Honorees of the evening were artist Kenny Scharf and philanthropist Mike De Paola.

“For us as a company and as a family, we are first and foremost art collectors. I’m very excited about this project as it gives the artists visibility as well as help provide shelters for children and communities,” said Maria Giulia Maramotti, Max Mara U.S. retail director and granddaughter of the family-owned Italian brand’s founder. “You want to know a secret? I had a groupie moment upon being told that I would present Kenny Scharf’s award. He is a legend!”

Mia Moretti, one half of the musical duo The Dolls, spun upbeat tunes as guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and ice cream (the most in-demand food of the evening). Many wrote bids for their favorite works during the silent auction before making way into the live auction room.

Coalition for the Homeless Board Chair Barry Berke welcomed guests and introduced the organization’s executive director Dave Giffen who took the stage and expressed gratitude for the 100 artists who donated their work for the auctions. “It’s that spirit of generosity that I think really defines New York,” said Giffen. “This year is, in fact, the 35th anniversary for the Coalition. Within this time, the work we have done has saved 1.5 million people from having to sleep on the streets of the city. And how do we do that? It all adheres to one similar idea; remembering that every individual matters.”

Among those in attendance included benefit committee chairs Casey Fremont Crowe, Sarah Hoover, Olivia Marciano, art advisory board members Cynthia Rowley, Aileen Agopian participating artists Cleo Wade, Zoë Buckman and Annika Connor.
