ASP hosts cocktail party for World Surf League

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

No one can ride waves like a professional surfer, and riding those waves earns them a pretty lean physique. Some of these professional surfers showed off these lean physiques yesterday evening at the James Hotel.

The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) hosted a cocktail party to support the World Surf League. Unlike other sports who have multiple entities trying to make decisions, ASP is the only governing body of professional surfing. It has been since 1976.

The World Championship Tour, the Qualification Series, the Big Wave World Tour, the World Longboard Championship and the World Junior Championship are all ASP-sanctioned events.

The ASP wants the world to see its best surfers on its best waves no matter what. It is an international organization with seven regional offices in Africa, Australasia, Europe, Hawaii, Japan, North America and South America.

Some of the guests at yesterday’s cocktail party included actress Katie Holmes, professional surfer Kelly Slater, Dirk Ziff, Alek Wek, Dree Hemingway and Georgina Chapman.
