AvenueInsider Loves: kidrobot for Swatch

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Art-driven toy brand kidrobot, the near cult-like collectible figurines, has teamed up with the ever-hip Swatch in debuting a new collection of watches that will each be paired with a matching “Dunny”. Huh?? What on Earth is a Dunny and why should I care?? Well, it’s the 3″ vinyl figurine that’s made kidrobot so popular; a blank canvas for collectors to decorate and enjoy as they please, and you should care because, well…they’re so darn cute!

This collection will feature eight designs by eight different artists who have each created individual Dunny personalities and the accompanying watch design. From Frank Kozik’s mustachio’d “Swatch-Ski Instructor” to self-proclaimed “graffiti fetishist” Tilt’s Swatch-Love Song, which features lyrics to a song by famous French band, Telephone these designs are like nothing you’ve seen before and are perfectly in tune with each brand’s well-respected aesthetics. Each pair can be bought separately, but with this collection of graphic prints and adorable characters, I would suggest going ahead and purchasing the limited edition set of all 8. Why not indulge in something care-free and yet undeniably cool this summer? I promise you, these collector items won’t last long so don’t make me say “I told you so”!
