Artist collective Friends With You unveiled their first large-scale interactive installation to hit New York yesterday in celebration of the opening of Section 2 of the High Line Project. Hosted by AOL, the event attracted the likes of Robert Hammond, Arianna Huffington, Joshua David, Fabiola Bercosa, Kyle De Woody and Avenue’s own Peter Davis. Rainbow City, Friends With You’s contribution, is a 40-piece, interactive installation for adults and children involving toy-like structures that tower up to 40 feet over the crowd. Connected with the newly formed, summer long outdoor space that runs from 20th to 30th St at 10th Ave in Chelsea, the installation also featured a Rainbow City pop-up shop, as well as food and beverage stands that will be there all summer long. Guests of the grand opening were greeted with champagne and cocktails, as well as a DJ set by It-Kid Jesse Marco. Needless to say, this life size Toy Land brought out the kid in all of us, and this Insider will be spending some days this summer, soaking up the Sun in this childhood dream.
