New York Fashion Week kicked off today with a stunning BCBGMAXAZRIA runway show dedicated, in style and spirit, to David Bowie. The motifs of Bowie’s “Fame” and “Let’s Dance” filled the runway space, as models graciously walked the catwalk in Lurex tops—threaded with shiny metallic yarn and layered with heavy oversized cozy sweaters—paired with equally rebellious slashed leggings. Black and brown leather booties with captivating shearling details added to the overall collection’s ’80s vibe.

While paying tribute to the iconic style—by extensively incorporating wide-sleeve, wide-bottom garments and menswear inspired structured jackets—BCBG has still managed to retain its authentic bohemian style with an edgy twist, thus setting the tone for the upcoming fall.

Among the front row attendees were June Ambrose, Petra Němcová, Nina Agdal, ZZ Ward, Abbie Cornish, Bailee Madison, and Sami Gayle
