Traditionally, if an aspiring home decorator wanted high end, custom design, he or she would higher an interior decorator with access to the D&D building.  But Silk Trading Company’s Warren Kay has officially changed the game with his Flatiron flagship store Wolf Home.  AVENUEinsider got an exclusive peak at Kay’s spacious boutique (formerly located in ABC Carpet and Home) which is literally awash with sumptuous fabrics and customizable furniture.

Kay’s fabrics were used all over the sets of both Sex and the City movies, and his drapes will be featured in the highly anticipated Richard Gere/Susan Sarandon vehicle, Arbitrage. His clients include high-wattage celebrities like Elton John (who had a jacket made of one of Kay’s fabrics), Julianna Margulies, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Adele and Miss Homemaker herself, Martha Stewart.

With Wolf Home, you too can now decorate your home like a celebrity – or an interior designer, or a set decorator.   That’s because Warren Kay can offer his clients a personalized home design concept without the expenses of a middleman.  Decorators-in-training may customize their own pieces by choosing from a selection of thousands of luxurious textiles and silks available exclusively at the store, or by creating one-of-a-kind pieces using their own designs and patterns that can be reproduced onto any of their silks.  Kay is involved in every step of the design process, from working to create the perfect dye, to creating the patterns, to determining the thickness of the silk to create different effects.  All of this personalized luxury comes at less than wholesale prices.

And New York is merely the beginning.  Wolf Home most recently opened a Chicago post, and additional locations are slated for later this year.  Kay prides himself – and has cornered the market on –  having the customer be part of the design process, and is quickly changing the way we think about decorating.  Want to spruce up your pad for fall? Stop by the flagship store and have your pick of over 2,000 fabrics.  The myriad velvet fabrics – silk velvet, linen velvet, cotton velvet – will add a cozy touch when those chillier days arrive.  Want something more formal? Go for the silk satin.  More modern?  Opt for the sheer silks.  With this many choices and an renowned expert to guide you every step of the way, you can’t possibly go wrong.

Wolf Home New York is located at 936 Broadway (between 21st and 22nd Streets).
