Fashion, Meet Football: The CFDA and Bloomingdale’s Honor The NFL with Haute Couture Headgear

This season, football is (literally) in fashion.


In a one-of-a-kind collaboration, Bloomingdale’s and the CFDA present a cool line of customized football helmets fashioned by a troupe of CFDA members in celebration of Super Bowl XLVIII, and in support of the National Football League Foundation.


“This is the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in the New York region and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate by joining Bloomingdale’s and the NFL in merging fashion and sports with the creation of these unique helmets,” said Steven Kolb, the CFDA’s CEO.


The haute couture helmets were unveiled in the iconic Bloomingdale’s windows on January 15th. A mixed crowd of fashion designers and football bigwigs (including Prince Amurkamara of the New York Giants and Nick Folk of the New York Jets) gathered to fete the unique collection indoors, as hoards of fans lined Lexington Avenue to witness the high-fashion headgears’ fabulous reveal and catch a glimpse of their favorite stars.


After the event, elite attendees flitted to a private cocktail reception hosted by Michael Gould, Tony Spring, and Steven Kolb at The Loews Regency’s Bar & Grill (the hotel officially reopened on January 16 following a yearlong, $100 million renovation).

100% of the auction’s net proceeds will benefit the NFL Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those touched by the beloved American game of football. The Foundation supports youth and high school football programs, health and safety efforts, as well as community health initiatives.


The minimum bid for each helmet is $248, celebrating the 48th Super Bowl taking place across two states.
