Bonjour Monsieur Mouret

Thursday, July 7, 2011

It seems the fashion world has turned itself into a game of musical chairs this past year, what with the shake-ups from the naughty Mr. Galliano, up-turning both his eponymous label and Dior, and the swirl of rumors surrounding Riccardo Tisci and Sarah Burton. Well, add one more to the mix; International designer Roland Mouret (of the red-carpet ready Galaxy Dress) has been named Creative Director of iconic French shoe and accessory label Maison Robert Clergerie.

Part of a plan from new shareholders Fung Brands Ltd. and Jean-Marc Loubier to position Clergerie in the universe of international shoes and accessories, Mouret is the perfect candidate, as not only has he worked alongside Clergerie in the past, but brings a fan base including the likes of Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett.

“This is a chance for me to work with a master on the art and craft of shoe design and to be a part of the special relationship that women have with their shoes.”

Watch out Monsieur Louboutin, there’s a new shoe man in town.
