Boys’ Club of New York Hosts 66th Annual Fall Dance with Oscar De La Renta

Friday, October 3, 2014

On Wednesday, October 1, The Boys’ Club of New York held its 66th annual Fall Dance, sponsored by Oscar de la Renta, in The Metropolitan Museum’s Temple of Dendur. The Fall Dance, the organization’s biggest event of the year, has been held annually since the 1940s. It is regarded in New York as one of the major social events of the season, attracting social, business and philanthropic leaders from across the city.

Founded in 1876, The Boys’ Club of New York is one of the city’s oldest charitable organizations, providing boys and young men with the skills to achieve their dreams. Three full-service clubhouses are located citywide, offering members and their families a safe space to gather and engage in productive activities.

The gorgeous evening began with a performance of The Star-Spangled Banner played on the violin by a 9-year-old member of Boys’ Club of New York, who through the organization is able to study under famed violinist Itzhak Perlman, followed by a three-course dinner served on tables draped with lovely Oscar de la Renta tableclothes, which were available for purchase that evening with a small donation.

The Temple of Dendur, elaborately decorated for the evening, is an Egyptian Temple that was built in Egypt around 15 BC and has been exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum’s Sackler Wing, surrounded by a reflecting pool and illuminated by a wall of windows opening onto Central Park, since 1978.

Guests in attendance included Designer Aerin LauderAmy Griffen, Socialite and DJ Hannah Bronfman, Dara O’Hara, Marina Purcell, Socialite and step-daughter of Oscar de la Renta Eliza Bolen, Oscar PR Girl’s Erika Bearman and Jonathan Bearman, Art Collector Eleanor Dejoux, Acessories Designer Tabitha Simons, Fashion Designer Tory Burch, Lise Evans, Socialite Muffie Potter Aston, Tiffany and Claus Moller, Socialite and Fashion Designer Alexandra Lind Rose, Stephanie Coleman, Dana and Scott Schiff, Cynthia van Eck, and Gigi Mortimer.
