Stars of stage and screen came together last night, June 29, for a one-night only event to raise awareness for New York’s foster children.

The Voice for Voiceless: Stars for Foster Kids event at St. James Theatre saw performances from the likes of Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess and Megan Hilty.

The event was organized by Seth Rudetsky and husband James Wesley, to highlight New York’s ‘unadoptable’ children, who are considered those aged 10 plus. The majority of funds raised will go to You Gotta Believe, New York’s only non-profit for finding a permanent home for older children. A portion of proceeds will also go to the Council on Adoptable Children (COAC).

One of the evening’s highlights was when Glee star, Darren Criss, auctioned off a serenade of the Carpenters’ classic, Close to You, which raised $30,000 for the charity.

The total sum raised by the event was $500,000.
