Buy Banksy’s Identity! on eBay!!

Friday, January 14, 2011

British graffiti/stencil artist Banksy‘s identity remains a big question mark, despite a much-acclaimed documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop in which the street artiste gave lengthy interviews (with a blacked-out face and distorted voice) about himself and the graffiti scene he is now the king of. Naturally, Banksy also directed the film.

Now someone on eBay has promised to offer the highest bidder hard-copy paper proof of Banksy’s true identity. There are currently six bids and Banksy’s identity is going for $5,000. The auction ends in just under five days.

The seller of Banksy’s identity promises: “I have uncovered his identity by matching up the prices of his sold pieces to corresponding tax records. I will reveal no more details. The winner of this auction is the only person I will ever share this information with. The piece of paper will say his name, nothing more. I give you 100% assurance that it is most certainly the full name of the street artist known as “Banksy”. Ebay previously ended this auction because I was selling something that was not “tangible”. It is now tangible.”

We have a weird feeling that Banksy himself is behind all this.

Stay tuned.
