CIRCA Insights: Tips of the Trade

Heading to that South Beach cocktail party or Las Vegas New Year’s Eve soiree this holiday season? We’ve got some helpful tips for traveling with your favorite gems!

1.)  Stick to one common look – white or gold – especially when the trip is one week or less. Hauling around different colors and types of jewelry makes the possibilities of losing a piece much greater. If you decide to wear yellow gold jewelry, then try a rose gold watch and yellow gold diamond earrings to help accessorize with all types of attire.

2.) When traveling with necklaces or bracelets, make sure to unhook them so there is “give” in any movement. If your favorite necklace is clasped tightly, there are better chances of it breaking.

3.)  Make sure to carry your precious cargo with you! Any expensive or beloved pieces should be with you at all times. Airlines will only give you about $500 when they lose a piece of luggage.

4.)    When in doubt, box it up! Bringing an item in its original box is the best way to travel and ensure the gem is safe. CIRCA CEO Chris Del Gatto once flew back from Europe with a dome shaped 24”x12”x6” box holding a historic 18th century tiara with all its fittings!
