As the fashion forward gear up for NYFW, The Fashion Center has geared up to host a new bike sharing program featuring the chicest wheels customized by some of the top designers (think DVF, Elie Tahari, Nanette Lepore, Rebecca Minkoff, Rebecca Taylor, Prabal Gurung and Isaac Mizrahi).

At the helm of this Tour de Fashion is the leading bike company from the Lower East Side, Bowery Lane Bicycles–and these vintage-inspired cruisers that will essentially be turning bike lanes into runways couldn’t be cuter.

This Insider, for one, is particularly smitten with these bikes, not only because mine was recently stolen (it’s a cruel, cruel world), but because they are handmade right here in NYC. And while your two-wheeled pride and joy might not have been taken from you, there is no question all of you will look a little cooler riding to Lincoln Center atop one of these classic cruisers.

The beauty-ful bikes will go on display on September 7 on the Broadway plazas between 39th and 40th Street and will be available to rent (for free!) from the tents from September 8-15.  At the end of NYFW, the bikes will be auctioned off and proceeds will go to the Council of Fashion Designers of America Incubator program.

We predict a heavy of dose of trendsetters riding these pretty pedals to pop up on street style blogs everywhere throughout Fashion Week.
