Down and (Odd Mom) Out

Thursday, October 5, 2017

It was a sad day for the Upper East Side, as Jill Kargman announced on Twitter and Instagram that the just-concluded third season of Odd Mom Out would be the show’s last.

“Alas, all good things must come to an end, including this wacky gang ruining takes with peals of laughter,” Kargman wrote on Instagram. “I’m filled with pure GRATITUDE to @bravotv and my entire @NBC family for giving a 40-year-old mom the insanely incredible opportunity to realize my dream of working in TV and I’m *so* excited for what lies ahead. Thank you to our brilliant Odd Mom Out cast, crew, and devoted fans for three incredible seasons. I love you all so so much 🖤”

Odd Mom Out told the story of Jill Weber (Kargman), a normal mom trying to stay sane as she dealt with her fellow Upper East Siders in all their fur-wearing, soulcycling glory. Throughout show, Jill faced down rich-people problems like finding the perfect burial plot, visiting Brooklyn and scoring Hamilton tickets with charm and good humor. AVENUE caught up with Kargman at the show’s season three premiere back in July. “I can’t wait for people to see it,” Kargman said, adding that the show was inspired by “years of incidents and Upper East Side scandals bubbling up.”

The show also starred Andy Buckley, KK Glick, Sean Kleier, Joanna Cassidy and Abby Elliott, as Jill’s deliciously insufferable sister-in-law Brooke.

Although Kargman declined to speak to AVENUE at this time, her publicist Julia Cuddihy Van Nice said, “as reported she is working on an NBC reboot of The Munsters with Seth Meyers!”
