After Fashion Week, the UN General Galley Assembly, and President Obama, it takes a great event to draw traffic-weary New Yorkers out these days. Erik Benson’s solo show at Edward Tyler Nahem gallery was one.

The Brooklynite by way of Minnesota creates collaged paintings about the interplay of nature with urban environments. His work sold out at both last year’s Miami Art Basel and recent Armory shows. Leaving a still-full gallery behind, Benson was feted by gallerist and producer Edward Tyler Nahem at dinner in the fabulous wine cellar of Il Buco. Coralie Charriol and Dennis Paul, interior designers Darren Henault and Katie Lydon, the Obama administration’s Marie Nelson, New Yorker culture editor Ian Parker, artist Lane Twitchell and MoMA trustee Ted Sann celebrated Benson’s success.
