Faena Hotel Miami Beach Launch Party

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Starting Art Basel Miami Beach off right, an intimate celebration was held last night for the grand unveiling of the luxurious Faena Hotel.

Close friends and family of the hotel’s founder Alan Faena and his longtime business partner, Len Blavatnik, gathered at the hotel in the heart of Miami, where they were led to explore each room while mingling with dancers and performers.

Entertainment was in no short supply with special musical performances by Michael Nyman, The New World Symphony, Andra Day, DJ Henri, Rossy de Palma & Adanowsky and DJ Pascal & Miranda.

Fireworks by the pool and a spectacular food procession were also on the schedule, and the true star of the party (and subject of many Instagram snapshots) was an art work displayed in the garden, named “Gone But Not Forgotten”, a nine-foot gilded skeleton of a wooly mammoth by artist Damien Hirst.

The $1 billion project was developed by Alan Faena, along with award-winning creatives, film director/producer Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin, who restored the historic Saxony Hotel (aka “The Queen of Collins Ave”) originally built in 1947 by George Sax.

Welcome to the block, Faena Hotel Miami Beach!
