Georgina Bloomberg and Jimmy Torano host Hampton Classic Luncheon

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

The Hamptons is more than just a summer vacation spot. For more than 75 years, horse riding has enjoyed a great deal of popularity in the town. In 1971, The Southampton Horse Show was revived, and the well-known Hampton Classic succeeded it.

The annual event took place just last week and was attended by the likes of Georgina Bloomberg, Jimmy Torano, Sissy DeMaria, Libbie Mugrabi and Steve Madden. Bloomberg and Torano hosted a benefit luncheon as part of the event’s festivities.

Torano, who was just coming off of his win at the High Performance Hunter Championship, emceed the event, which benefits horse charities. One of those charities includes Bloomberg’s The Riders Closet, which provides special needs and underprivileged riders with equipment. The event also raises money for Give a Buck, a scholarship program for disabled children and veterans at GallopNYC.

Over 150 guests saddled up for the cause sponsored by Douglas Elliman and One River Point.
