Girl of the Week

Monday, September 21, 2015

Our girl of the week is Viola Davis, who made history Sunday night by becoming the first woman of color to win an Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series. Opening with a quote from Harriet Tubman, she went on to make an incredibly inspiring and emotional speech about the lack of diversity that exists in the entertainment industry saying, “You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there … The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity” .
