Grimanesa Amoros is an interdisciplinary artist who was born in Lima but now lives and works out of New York City and Peru. She uses elements from art and technology to create her pieces, which are site-specific light sculptures. She has a keen interest in the fields of social history, scientific research and critical theory so it’s no question why she was asked to design the Pink Lotus on display at The Peninsula New York. The Pink Lotus is a large-scale light installation sculpture the hotel boasts with pride in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

There was a small, intimate gathering at The Peninsula Wednesday night to celebrate the sculpture and its artist, as well as show support for breast cancer awareness. Guests enjoyed some refreshing cocktails and buzzing conversation. The hotel lobby served as a beautiful venue dressed in vibrant pink flowers and warm lighting. The guests who came to show their support included Stefano Tonchi, Jonathan Crook, Alvaro Leal, Liz Dimmitt, Chris Kerr, Kimberly Mannino, Dr. Howard Bellin, Jessica Amoros, Tricia Rosentreter, Kelly Padden and Manuel Santelices.
