Gym Class Hero: Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

For the first time since partnering with Opening Ceremony three years ago, Chloe Sevigny sent her collaboration collection down the catwalk, presenting the Resort 2012 line.

The collection itself is very nineties–in a good way–featuring an eclectic mix of eyelet and lace, bustiers and black leather. Several of the pieces reminded us of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” music video–not far fetched, seeing that the show was held in an old school gym in Nolita, sans air conditioning. Many of the pieces–think sneakers and crop tops–were made in collaboration with Vision Street Wear (a skateboard lifestyle brand) and paired with ultra-feminine ruffles.

Fashionable fans and friends of Sevigny were front and center, including Hamish Bowles, Jen Brill and Terry Richardson, Chiara Clemente, Sally Singer, Sean Avery, Jeanette Hayes, Fabiola Beracasa and Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi.

Last night, as we were temporarily transported back into our awkward high school years, Sevigny definitely became our gym class hero.
