DJ and model Harley Viera-Newton is branching out, teaming up with the handbag mavens at Mark Cross.
Her Harley Rattan bags--in clors like black, marine blue, peach and acorn--will retail for $2,095 .
"I am so excited about collaborating with Mark Cross because the brand has been one of my favorites for years," Viera-Newton says. "Their bags are elegant and timeless, and the amazing range of color keep the line fresh and fun. I especially love their box bags as I find the classic shape goes with every outfit. As a devoted MC box bag carrier, I longed for a vintage inspired wicker version with fine leather detailing. I thought it would be so lovely to translate the idea of a little picnic basket into a structured and chic Mark Cross box shape. And that is how the Harley Rattan was born! After perfecting the shape, we played with leather color options and charm add-ons to bring the bag to lifes!"
The bags will be available at Barneys New York, Holt Renfrew and Saks Fifth Avenue as well as luxury e-commerce sites like Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi.
Mark Cross, long dormant, has staged an impressive comeback. The brand, which dates back to the 1920s, has been reinvented under CEO Neal Fox.
In an era where women are seeking more subtlety than over all-over logo bags, Mark Cross' brand of quiet quality has flourished.
