Fashion Bespoke Twillaine with Hermès’ Maille à Soie

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Hermès redefines the scope of its signature silk with its introduction of Maille à Soie, a novel silk personalization concept realized by the iconic brand’s Women’s Universe artistic director, Bali Barret.

The cool fashion innovation gives clientele the chance to design their own Twillaine, a hybrid of a scarf and an item of clothing that has been the heart of Christophe Lemaire‘s ready-to-wear collections since 2011.

With five models (a tank top, low-cut top, dress, sweatshirt, and cardigan), eight signature scarf designs — Ex-Libris, Brides de Gala, Couvertures et Tenues, Collier de Chien, Astrologuie Nouvelle, Quadrige II, Cavalcadour, and Cheval Surprise — and two color ranges per scarf, there are 80 splendid bespoke variations to choose from.

Though the personalized, wearable crafts take two months to fashion, they’re certainly worth the wait!

Maille à Soie will launch at Hermès’ Madison Avenue boutique at the beginning of April, though it will also be available at select locations nationwide later in the year.
