Hermès: Party in Nantucket for Music Academy and Celebration of its Craft in NYC Sept. 4

Friday, August 17, 2012

The house of Hermés recently partnered with the Berkshire Hills Music Academy (BHMA) in celebration of their summer gala. As part of the festivities, Hermès hosted an intimate gathering at the Nantucket home of the Founder and President of the Board of the BHMA, Kay Bernon, held last weekend.

Guests including Kay Bernon’s beautiful family, Laura and Kenneth Wenick, John Nargi and Courtney Forrester were treated to a musical performance by the students of the BHMA, as well as an opportunity to purchase personalized, limited editions of iconic Hermès scarves. A percentage of the proceeds from the sales of the personalized “Quintessence” scarf, designed by Zoe Pauwels and revived from the S/S 2010 went to the BHMA.

For those who missed out on this Hermès moment in Nantucket, the upcoming season will also usher in exciting events for the famed French fashion house. Hermès is hosting a national exhibition called Festival des Métiers (Festival of Crafts) in New York, San Francisco and Houston beginning this. This public exhibition, which falls in conjunction with the house’s 175th anniversary, celebrates Hermès commitment to time-tested values: traditional handcraftsmanship, “savoir-faire” and the importance of artisanal quality. The New York exhibition will kick off with a private dinner on September 4, followed by a showcase of Hermès artisans at work from September 5- 10.  Held at 583 Park Avenue, guests of the festival will be given a rare glimpse into how the iconic Hermès handbags, silk scarves and ties, saddles and other items are crafted.
