Everybody knows that animals have the power to heal our souls.  But if the Center for Therapeutic Riding of the East End (CTREE)’s benefit last Thursday at the Sebonack Golf Club proved anything, it was that they can throw a pretty fun party, too—and that’s straight from the horse’s mouth! Chaired by Tami Maines and Michelle Farmer, the gala was a festive night of live music, live auctions and cocktails. And it attracted a few famous names too, like honorary chair Georgina Bloomberg and her dad Mike.

Based at the Wolffer Estate Stables in Sagaponack, CTREE helps children, adults and veterans find peace and comfort through the magic of horseback riding. “This summer has been most impactful for my son,” said one woman. “He formed a special relationship with Rocket. He calls him My Boy. He has been riding for the first time independently of the lead line and it has given him so much pride and confidence. He has a huge sense of accomplishment, and for me that is the best feeling in the world.”

The organization’s healing powers weren’t lost on the evening’s attendees, either. “I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by animals my whole life and sometimes take for granted their therapeutic powers,” said Georgina Bloomberg. “I’ve had the chance to volunteer and see that transformative power they have, especially for children with disabilities. You all do great work and it’s a pleasure to be a part of tonight.”

And the pleasure wasn’t just theirs—thanks to the support of the kind men and women in attendance on Thursday, CTREE raised more than half its annual budget.
