Friday, June 27, 2014

The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) held its annual Tribute Dinner last Monday at the Waldorf Astoria. Anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News Brian Williams was the evening’s host. This year’s dinner was in honor of William R. Salomon, Honorary Chairman of Citigroup, in celebration of his 100th birthday. Jo A. Hannafin, MD, PhD, attending orthopedic surgeon and Director of Orthopedic Research, received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The dinner co-chairs were Kathryn C. Chenault, trustee, vice chairman of Citigroup and Chief Client Officer Alan S. MacDonald and trustee Patricia G. Warner. The guest list was made up of a mix of standout professionals from the business, health, media, sports, finance and arts industries. Among these were corporate leaders, government officials, celebrities, distinguished medical staff and athletes who have had their mobility restored by HSS. Some of these important guests included president and CEO of HSS Louis A. Shapiro and sports medicine and shoulder service co-chief at HSS Dr. David Altchek.

Photographs were taken by Don Pollard and Howard Heyman.
