The AVENUE Hot 100

Monday, July 2, 2018

When is an A-List not an A-List? This is a list, certainly. But it strives to be different. It was conceived by an informal panel as both a guide to nearby, attractive summer places, and to the handful of people in each whom, if you were a new arrival, a recent homebuyer, a weekend visitor or just sniffing out the scene, you would be fortunate to know. That can be the most gracious hostess, the guy who can get you out of jail, the woman who can pave your way into the most exclusive club, the most interesting intellectual, sparkling wit, of-the-moment decorator, or most entertaining (and still ambulatory) member of the Old Guard.

Seasons change, and so will this roster of 100 notable individuals and families in years to come. Our team, including the Diamonds of Bellport, the Bancrofts of Southampton, North Haven’s Missy Hargraves and Millbrook’s Nina Griscom, aren’t on it, though they certainly could be. So wave and smile if you see them, because, as they say in Cleveland, there’s always next year.
