No amount of money is too much when it’s raised for a hospital, and that was certainly the philosophy of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital when it held tits 59th Annual Summer Party on Saturday, August 5.

The event was highlighted by a major announcement—hospital CEO Robert Chaloner informed guests that Southampton was now officially a part of the Stony Brook Medicine health care system, a partnership that the hospital had been working toward for 10 years. This will give hospital patients access to more resources and technology. A new cardiac catheterization laboratory will be added as a part of The Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart & Stroke Center and the Phillips Family Cancer Center.

The 700 guests who attended the event were helping to raise money for Jenny & John Paulson Emergency Department, which is the only provider of emergency care on the South Fork. Every year they treat over 25,000 people, and Southampton Hospital’s Summer Party raised more than $1.5 million in order to provide support to the department.

Greg Kelly, the host of Fox 5 Good Day New York, introduced several of the guests, including Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and his wife Hilary Geary Ross. After Chaloner made the announcement of the hospital’s new health care system, Groove Society had the guests dancing the night away under the glamorous tent decorated by Lawrence Scott Events.

Others in attendance were Benefit Chairs Bill Ford and Marigay McKeeTerrence McNally and Tom Kirdahy, Southampton Hospital Foundation President Steve Bernstein, Michael and Ellen IrvingSomers and Jonathan Farkas, Margo and John Catsimatidis, Julie Ratner, Chairman on the Board of Trustees Howard M. Lorber, Chairman Kenneth Wright, and Stony Brook University President Dr. Samuel Stanley. Former Chairs that arrived were Jean Fitzsimmons, Jean Shafiroff along with her husband Martin Shafiroff, and Audrey Gruss with her husband Martin Gruss. The event’s Honorary Chair this year was Georgina Bloomberg.
