Rose Quartz + Serenity limited edition mug by Pantone

Unbeknown to most, Pantone’s selection process for Color of the Year is a bit more scientific than just picking a pretty hue. The top-secret research requires a year of trend analysis, non-stop studying of the latest fashions, and interviews with everyone from couturiers to marketing executives. This week, the culmination of the study gave us not one, but two official Colors of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. The first is a dusty, pale pink and the the latter a well, serene shade of lilac-blue, together giving us a youthful, pretty combination that will be absolutely everywhere over the next 12 months.

While the colors are undoubtedly gorgeous, the overt prettiness of the combo can be a little much for a grown-up. Luckily, there’s a number of ways to work Rose Quartz + Serenity into your every day look, from beauty and fashion to home decor and accessories.

Your beauty routine is by far the simplest way to incorporate the duo into your look. Glimmering rose quartz eyeshadows like Sonia Kashuk‘s quad in the shade Fair and Square is a holiday party season must-have as it’s both subtle and pretty, allowing for the focus to be drawn to a Serenity frock like this one shimmery pick from Needle & Thread at Saks Fifth Avenue. Cheeks and lips can join in, too, with baby pink picks from Smith & Cult and the actual cult-favorite Ambient Lighting blush from
Hourglass. Bathroom shelves and counters can have a tiny burst of the shades as well with an R + Co. hair duo that seem almost like they were made for this moment. One is the Bel Air smoothing conditioner for a low-key look, while its companion, the appropriately named Dallas, is for going big–and not going home.

Speaking of home, it’s long been thought that actual rose quartz–as in the crystal–ushers in love and positive energy. Add it to your entry way in the form of a handmade bowl to bring the feng shui your way. Pantone themselves regularly release a number of swatch-themed products for purchase, from phone cases to messenger bags and coffee table books. Their most popular new item, however, is the dual-sided Rose Quartz + Serenity mug and collectors box, which makes for an excellent last-minute holiday/New Years gift–if you can get your hands on one, that it.
