On October 6, New York’s late in life fashion icon Iris Apfel gathered guests, editors, socialites and fashion industry insiders on to the terrace of the Gramercy Park Hotel to celebrate her latest collection with Happy Socks. Apfel has been making regular habit of fashion collaborations lately, as she just launched a collection with INC and Macy’s at the end of August.

The celebration included everything from hors d’oeuvres, to champagne and even a candy bar provided by Sugarfina. Specialty cocktails included items like “The Rare Bird”, “Autumn Sheep” and “The Hunny Bunny”.

Upon entering the room, the paparazzi began snapping shots of Apfek who was then seated on a “throne” in the corner of the room. There was a constant crowd in line to try and meet her and get photos with her, after all, she is without question one of New York’s most stylish ladies.

In attendance at the party was Apfel’s good friend, jewelry designer Alexis Bittar, as well as Happy Socks co-founders Viktor Tell and Mikael SoderlindhPaper Magazine‘s stylist Paul Simon-Djite, United Legwear ceo Isaac Ash, Brittney Pritchard, the wife of Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt, Sara Rose Wright, the wife of Green Day drummer Tre Cool, fashion stylist Lindsi Lane, president of Puma Jay Piccola, TV personality & tattoo artist Megan Massacre, among many other good friends and fans of Iris.

The decoration for the party was very true to Apfel’s style with origami birds hanging in the Iris Apfel Happy Sock print hanging from the ceiling, an oversized pair of black glasses hanging above her throne, plus a selfie-station with props like black glasses on a stick to take pictures next to life-size images of Iris.

Music was provided by the talented singer/songwriter Kate Davis, who was named by MTV as one of 2014’s “15 Fresh Female Who Will Rule Pop”.

As guests departed from the evening, they received gift bags with three pairs of socks from the collection as well champagne gummi bears from Sugarfina.
