Brooklyn icon Shawn Carter a.k.a. Jay-Z just announced that he’ll be headlining a series of concerts to celebrate the opening of the Barclays Center of Brooklyn (future home of the NBA team, the Brooklyn Nets) in 2012. Raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, legendary rapper recently made a trip out to his old neighborhood to announce the news. “This is where I’m from, I’ll always be Brooklyn,” said Jay-Z adding that “opening this arena will mean more to me than anywhere else. I also look forward to opening night for the Brooklyn Nets. We’re going to create an atmosphere like only Brooklyn can.” And we don’t doubt it, Jay. As if he weren’t busy enough (what with the upcoming offspring and all), we also hear the emperor of the state is teaming up with Adidas to design the team’s uniforms.
