Jonathan Adler

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Super talented potter turned designer Jonathan Adler has one goal in mind when designing his ultra-hip home decor: to evoke happiness. Dubbed “happy chic”, his haute home creations are intensely polychromatic, intricately patterned and bring delight to all who come across them. Adler displayed artistic talent and lots of it from an early age in his native New Jersey; he mastered pottery making during adolescence and later studied art history and semiotics at Brown University. After a short stint trying his hand at acting, Adler returned to his artistic calling (lucky for us) and things only moved uphill and at an incredibly fast rate from there. Adler’s brand now includes a furniture line, bedding, stationary, a children’s line and just about every accessory imaginable. To top it all off, the designer is now making a name for himself as an interior decorator. The Jonathan Adler brand has 14 nationwide locations to date and an extensive website where the brand’s devotees go gaga for the artist’s groovy chic home collections. Adler remains dedicated to his non-profit partner Aid to Artisans, and has been married to longtime love Simon Doonan since 2008.
