“I’ll do it again when I’m 90, but it will be smaller,” Leonard Stern announced to guests arriving for his motorcycle themed 80th birthday party on Monday night. Invitations wrapped in black leather mini motos that opened with a thick zipper featured Stern on the Vintage Harley he rides around the East End.

Organized by his wife Allison, designed by David Monn and attended by all of Stern’s children and most of his grandchildren, the party began with cocktails on the roof of Spring Studios in TriBeCa, where caviar, pigs in blankets, and a sushi bar from Nobu served guests as a samba band snaked through the crowd, Stern himself cavorting among the befeathered dancers.

A businessman whose interests have ranged from pet supplies (he is the chairman and CEO of his family’s Hartz Group) to media and real estate, Stern is also the founder and chairman of Homes for the Homeless, and the namesake of New York University’s business school. But while his philanthropy was highlighted by the speakers at dinner, his role as head of the family took precedence. Two of his children and his wife made touching remarks.

Stern’s larger family of friends came out in droves, too, and were entertained before a family style dinner by an R&B cover band that did an immaculate Jacksons imitation, and afterwards, by surprise guest Reba McIntyre, who played a full set and had the urbane urban crowd dancing to her country music.

Among the guests, some of whom wore the requested touches of leather, were Carl Icahn, Tom Lee and Ann Tenenbaum, Andrew Tisch, Dayssi and Paul Kanavos, Karen and Richard Lefrak, Hilary Ross, Georgette Mosbacher, Dana Hammond and Patrick Stubgen, Sherrell and Muffie Potter Aston, Carl and Christine Bernstein, Marilyn BergerKatharina Otto Bernstein, Nancy Silverman, Sheldon Solow, Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox, Ray Kelly, Bill Bratton and Rikki Kleiman, David Zaslav, Paula Zahn, Deborah Norville and Karl Wellner, David Patrick Columbia, Gigi and Harry Benson, Peter Marino, Yasmin Aga Kahn, Jimmy Nederlander, Robert Wiesenthal, Deb and Leon Black, Carl Icahn, Robert Zimmerman,  Kathy and Rick Hilton, Jon Corzine, Jerry and Judy Licht Della Femina and the evening’s fashion standout, Aby Rosen, in a black leather kilt, with wife Samantha Boardman.
