There’s no party like a LIMPIA party. The 501c3 non-profit organization’s name stems from the word, ‘clean’ in Spanish, and is the Long Island Marine Purification Initiative, a driving force to create awareness and inspire lasting change for water quality on the East End.

On Saturday, July 23rd, the Board of LIMPIA, including its Founder and Chairman Luke Weil, hosted a cozy outdoor bash in aid of their mission at Moby’s Easthampton. The evening included dinner, drinks and dancing to music by Abe Lichy. Those in attendance included Jayma Cardoso, Sian GordonMike GoodwinFabiola Beracasa, Zoe Silverman, Arden Wohl and more.

As a long-time Montauk resident, surfer and environmental supporter, Weil was propelled to start the initiative from his personal experience with water pollution levels while surfing 48 hours after a heavy rainfall. Turns out that much of the ocean, lakes, ponds, streams and other bodies of water was tested to be contaminated due to environmental pollutants, outdated infrastructure and a year-round population increase, leading to toxic conditions. With LIMPIA, there’s a way to take action by fundraising and volunteering to support research in forming a plan to restore, clean and preserve water quality on the East End.
