Surf’s up! On Saturday, September 5, LongHouse’s Junior Council hosted festive party and art surfboard auction to toast to LongHouse’s exhibition “Surf Craft: Design and the Culture of Board Riding” at their sculpture garden in East Hampton.

The show, curated by Richard Kenvin and organized by Mingei Museum, San Diego, included a number of unique (and colorful) surfboards designed by artists including Peter Dayton, Caio Fonseca, Fitzhugh Karol, Richard Phillips, Scott Bluedorn, Carl Ekstrom, Jack Lenor Larsen, Greg Fadell, Darius Yektai, and Isca Greenfield-Sanders.

Guests had the opportunity to bid on the works of art (which were also available on auction site, Paddle 8) while they enjoyed live music and sipped on cocktails.

Among those in attendance included Dianne Benson, Mark Levine, Peter Olsen, Jack Lenor Larsen, Brad Penuel, Nick Martin, Marta Trawicki, Elisa Blynn, and Tsewang Motch, among others.

All proceeds from the beach-themed bash went to benefit LongHouse’s public programs.
