The long-awaited, 13,000 square foot, GUESS 5th Avenue flagship store finally opened its doors on February 17th.  But instead of going the usual route of step and repeat, paparazzi, and an everyone-but-the-kitchen sink guest list, the brand celebrated its opening that evening with an intimate gathering of friends, editors, and a couple of celebrities for good measure.

Coming at the tail end of the fashion week marathon, this low-key approach was a smart one.  Editors like Vogue’s Meredith Melling Burke and Nylon’s (and Lia Sophia designer) Dani Stahl mingled with SNL’s Nasim Pedrad and “Royal Pains” star Reshma Shetty amidst the backdrop of supermodels of GUESS past, from Claudia Schiffer to Eva Herzigova to Anna Nicole Smith.

Feeling nostalgic for the early 90s, the AVENUEinsider took a little trip down memory lane with Shetty, who will be walking down the aisle with her fiancee, actor Deep Katdare, on March 19th in New York City. “My sister has been wearing GUESS since she was 14, so she is a true ‘GUESS girl,'” she tells us.  So when did Reshma first get bitten by the GUESS bug?  “Four or five years ago.  I have two pairs of jeans that I wear, and one of them is GUESS. I think I got them on sale for like $25.  GUESS always has great sales!” Too bad they don’t make wedding dresses.
