The fashion rumor mill has been churning at record speeds this past year, especially surrounding the explosive aftermath of John Galliano’s racist rant and subsequent dismissal from Christian Dior this past winter. Women’s Wear Daily reported today that America’s wonder-boy and recipient of the CFDA’s 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award, Marc Jacobs is now in talks with the management at the French fashion house to replace Galliano as the next Creative Director for the label. LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault is of course fond of the designer, as he has led Louis Vuitton to massive popularity since his hiring in ’97.

Though this move would inevitably unseat Jacobs as CD for Louis Vuitton, there is speculation that Celine’s Phoebe Philo is already in talks with LVMH to take his place. Could it be that we’ve finally put the beast to rest, and are nearing the end of one of the international fashion world’s biggest shake-ups to date?
